2024 saw me beginning to venture into buying pieces of art work. I know nothing to little about art however, I do love beautiful items and art fits in perfectly. So, bear with me whilst I start my journey!

Majorie Christine Bates (1886 - 1962)
English landscape painter who exhibited at the Royal Academy in London and Paris.
This etching is attributed to the novel by Charles Dickens of the same title….

Rhinoceros
Attributed to Albrecht Durer (1471 - 1528)
This print is by German printmaker, painter, mathematician and theorist Albrecht Durer who from his early twenties was regarded as the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance.
Other works include; The Devil, Death, Knight, Melencolia and Saint Jerome in his study (1514)

Majorie C Bates
Lincoln’s Inn Fields is a large public square which houses barristers chambers and law firms.
This particular etching can also be attributed to Charles Dickens, ‘Bleak House’ & ‘Poor Jo.’

Henry Thomas Alken (1785 - 1851)
Henry was a prominent English painter and engraver who renowned for his sporting hunting scenes which attempted to capture the energy and excitement of this countryside pursuits.

The Tyne. Newcastle Upon Tyne
Walter Holmes
Famous for his depictions of local scenes especially from around the North East, Yorkshire and Northumberland.
The use of pastels in this picture of the bridges and the Quayside of Newcastle allows for soft, diffused light and subtle colour gradations enhancing the atmospheric qualities of the scene.

William Baker (1865 - 1938)
Signed and dated water colour by renowned artist W. Baker 1911.

Charcoal Drawings
Signed but artist unknown.
Circa late 19th or early 20th century, possibly European.
Drawings like these were often created as preparation for larger works of art and focuses on capturing the essence of the subjects.

Phoenix
Ann Thetis Blacker (1927 - 2006)
Although not signed by the artist this image is attributed to her.
Ann studied at Chelsea school of art then she went on to visit a number of countries to perfect her incredible talent in ‘batik’ the art of waxing and dying fabrics to produce such energetic and vibrant images of which have been displayed in churches and cathedrals throughout the UK, Europe and America.
